A Feast of Vultures by Josy Joseph5/11/2023 The presentation of this ninety-seven-page report was among the many actions that the government promised. The following year, the UPA government presented a white paper on black money in parliament. The BJP, which was the main opposition party in 2011, constituted a task force to study the phenomenon of black money and released a report later. The practice of siphoning off ‘black money’ – the illegal earnings of India’s rich and powerful – has many dire implications, including a crippling effect on the country’s efforts at fighting poverty, illiteracy and other socio-economic challenges, scuttling national security priorities, fleecing the public exchequer and stymieing competition.

April daniels books5/11/2023 Whilst I enjoyed the book, it was far from perfect. The premise of the novel was incredibly promising, however, it didn’t quite live up to the hype that was created online. It details how Danny came to be a superhero, whilst struggling with her own gender identity along the way. This novel is very much like any other superhero origin story. She is thrilled! Except now she has to handle the existence of her transphobic parents, and the judgement of superheroes who don’t believe she is capable of taking on the mantle of the city’s best known superhero. When she is given these powers, her body is changed, physically, into one of a biological female. After a series of unfortunate events, Danny is gifted the powers of the all-powerful superhero Dreadnought. All that this LGBT+ superhero novel has to its name, unfortunately, are dreadfully shallow characters in a paper-thin universe.ĭreadnought is a novel about Danny Tozer, a 15 year old transgirl. The Republic of Pirates by Colin Woodard5/10/2023 A correspondent for various newspapers and magazines, he is probably best known for his books such as Ocean’s End: Travel Through Endangered Seas, The Lobster Coast, and American Nations: A History of the Eleven Rival Regional Cultures of North America. Here to explain the rise and fall of these storied buccaneers and their times in their actuality is Colin Woodard with The Republic of Pirates: Being the True and Surprising Story of the Caribbean Pirates and the Man Who Brought Them Down. That age was quickly put to an end by authorities after a brief heyday of only a few decades. The common denominator among the lot, and something few at first realize, is that most of those we have likely heard of lived and worked in a relatively short period of time in the early eighteenth century known by historians of the subject as a sort of “golden age” of piracy. Swaggering, larger than life, figures surrounded by more myth than fact, their names-including Blackbeard, Black Sam Bellamy, Charles Vane, and Anne Bonny-are still familiar to many today centuries after their infamous and haphazardly documented deeds. Few historians, indeed few people among the general public, are not at least somewhat intrigued by the stories of the legendary pirates of the Caribbean. Matryoshka by Penny Jones5/10/2023 Everyone was part of the conspiracy so she hid her fears until her psychosis was so acute she was no longer able to hide it. For her it felt as if she was living in a nightmare where one by one her family were being replaced by their evil twins. It was a terrifying time for both her and her family. I’m a trained mental health nurse and one of my patients developed postpartum psychosis, but during the last two weeks of their pregnancy rather than following the birth.
